'O Come, Emmanuel: Preparing for Christmas' is our annual service of music and readings for Advent, the church season preceding Christmas. The music includes congregational hymns and choral music sung by the Choir of Christ Church, directed by George King. This year our music includes a first performance at Christ Church of Jonathan Harvey's 2011 setting of Edwin Muir's poem 'The Annunciation', together with James Macmillan's 'O radiant dawn', Gabriel Jackson's 'Tomorrow go ye forth', William Byrd's 'Vigilate' and other works for Advent. All are welcome, and as this is a service there is no charge for admission, though a generous donation in the collection to the parish would be appreciated. Parking is under guard.
